About Maurice

Maurice Collard, KC, is a criminal defence lawyer and a founding member and owner of Advocate Law. He spent many years as a Crown prosecutor before moving into defence work, and has run trials for murder, impaired driving causing death, aggravated assault, home invasions, and drug trafficking, along with numerous sexual assault and domestic violence cases. He has argued cases in the Court of Justice, the Court of King's Bench, and the Court of Appeal of Alberta. He serves as a guest lecturer for law enforcement agencies and has instructed for the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service. He was appointed King's Counsel in recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, and is based in the firm's Red Deer office while defending clients across Alberta.
