About Matthew
Matthew J. Wells joined Sullivan Festeryga in 1998 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2000, becoming a partner in 2006. His practice centers on civil litigation, particularly insurance defence work involving complex multi-party claims with priority and coverage disputes. He has argued cases before human rights, immigration, and workers' compensation tribunals, and has appeared at multiple levels of court in Ontario, up to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Matthew holds an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and a master's degree in political science from McMaster University, where he also earned an honours B.A. in political science and philosophy. He represents several of Canada's largest financial institutions and has acted for hundreds of refugee claimants, and speaks regularly at legal education conferences.
