About Matthew
Matthew Gourlay is a partner and Co-Chair of the Criminal Litigation Practice Group at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP, practising primarily in criminal and regulatory law at the trial and appellate level. He appears regularly before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and his appellate work spans criminal, regulatory, and civil matters, along with professional disciplinary proceedings and extradition and national security cases. He is vice-chair of the Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program and has written extensively on criminal and evidence law, co-authoring Modern Criminal Evidence and Charter Remedies in Criminal Cases, and co-editing Martin's Annual Criminal Code. Matthew graduated as gold medalist from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2008, clerked for Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin at the Supreme Court of Canada, and has practised at the firm since 2010.
