About Matthew
Matthew B. Lerner is a partner at Lenczner Slaght whose litigation practice centers on complex commercial disputes, including infrastructure and real estate matters, along with insolvency proceedings. He is often retained in shareholder and partnership disputes, commercial arbitrations, and civil fraud claims on both sides of the file, and has defended directors and officers in large multi-jurisdiction proceedings. His insolvency work includes acting for court-appointed officers and secured creditors, and he has developed particular expertise defending physicians in regulatory and malpractice matters. Matthew has litigated at every level of court in Ontario and before numerous administrative tribunals, for clients ranging from individual entrepreneurs to major real estate developers and public technology companies. Since 2010 he has chaired the Lenczner Slaght Moot in Legal Ethics and Professionalism at Western Law, and he sits on the firm's Management Committee. He earned his LL.B. with Distinction from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2008.
