About Mark
Mark Russell is an insolvency and disputes lawyer with over 15 years of experience in Canada and internationally, focusing on insolvency, restructuring, fraud, and commercial disputes in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional matters. He was called to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 2009 and admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands in 2016, and he regularly acts for officeholders, creditors, shareholders, and other stakeholders in insolvency and restructuring proceedings. He has appeared before the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Grand Court and Court of Appeal of the Cayman Islands, and the Privy Council, and has given expert evidence on foreign law before U.S. courts including the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. His industry experience spans financial services, investment funds, energy, mining, fisheries, and telecommunications. Mark earned an LLB from the University of Western Ontario in 2008, a BBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2005, and completed a Master of Laws with Distinction in international business law through the University of London in 2014.
