About Marissa

Marissa A. Daniels is counsel advising on regulatory compliance in the financial services and payments industry, with particular focus on consumer protection, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing rules, sanctions, and payments and card laws. She advises financial institutions on their federal and provincial obligations and works with banks, money services businesses, insurers, and leasing companies on compliance matters. Marissa has extensive experience with credit, debit, and prepaid card arrangements, including co-brand and affinity programs, and regularly advises fintechs and payment providers on Canadian licensing requirements. She co-chairs Women in Law@Torys and co-edits the National Banking Law Review, and has led charitable initiatives at the firm including a campaign for AIDS research and local food drives. Marissa also mentors through the Law in Action Within Schools program.
