About Laurence

Laurence Gauthier's practice is dedicated to professional liability, general civil liability, insurance, latent defects and construction. She has defended lawyers, notaries and accountants against professional liability allegations, and is regularly mandated by insurers to provide coverage opinions on commercial general liability and errors and omissions policies. She represented a product distributor in a major construction-law and course-of-construction coverage dispute, assisted in defending a concrete manufacturer in the pyrrhotite case, and represented design engineers in the public inquiry into the collapse of a portion of the De la Concorde overpass. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in Canada for insurance law since 2021 and has chaired the annual Colloque des Développements récents en droit des assurances since 2023. She previously worked as in-house counsel at a major Canadian insurance company and is a member of the Montreal Association of Insurance Women.
