About Laura

Laura Neilan primarily represents plaintiffs in civil litigation, including people pursuing personal injury claims, employees who have been wrongfully terminated, survivors of sexual assault and harassment, and clients in insurance disputes such as disability benefits and property damage claims. She also handles construction matters, land disputes, and Canada Pension Plan disability appeals. She has argued at every level of court in Nova Scotia as well as the Federal Court of Appeal, the New Brunswick Court of Appeal, and various administrative tribunals. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick in 2013 and has practiced law since 2014. Laura is active with the Nova Scotia Land Titles Initiative, volunteers with the Halifax Free Legal Clinic, and has taught the Civil Procedure Workshop at the Schulich School of Law since 2023.
