Julie Lowenstein is an associate at Torys LLP in Toronto. Her practice centers on commercial litigation and dispute resolution, and she has supported major financial institutions and investment managers along with clients facing corporate governance and shareholder disputes. She also handles matters involving defamation and free expression. While in law school, she received the Gerald W. Schwartz Summer Research Fellowship, through which she researched privacy law and assisted the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association with systems for lawful access to communications metadata. She was a member of her school's Moot Court Committee and competed in two moot competitions, the Gale Cup Moot and the University of Toronto Grand Moot, earning a second-place factum award and reaching the final round. Julie was also a clinic student with the International Human Rights Program and served as co-editor-in-chief of its publication, Rights Review.
