About Julia

Julia E. Holland serves as General Counsel and Director, Risk Management at Torys LLP, overseeing firm-wide risk management and working closely with its lawyers and administrative staff. She counsels her colleagues about conflicts of interest, ethics matters, and other issues of professional responsibility, develops firm policies, and supports professional development and training. She also manages professional liability insurance and oversees the Conflicts and Records group. Julia speaks often on conflicts and professional responsibility topics at conferences held by groups such as the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada. She belongs to the Pearson College Alumni Association, the Harvard Club of Toronto, and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, and previously sat on the University of Toronto's own Centre for the Legal Profession advisory board as well as the Law Society's Expert Advisory Group on retaining women in private practice. She also assists with student selection for programs such as Harvard College and the Loran Scholars.
