About Joseph
Joey Jamil represents institutional clients such as lenders, title insurers, and real estate and financial services businesses in disputes over fraud recovery, title insurance coverage, and insolvency. He appears often before the Ontario Superior Court, including on the Commercial List, as well as the Court of Appeal for Ontario. His fraud work includes moving quickly to secure court orders freezing assets and compelling disclosure from third parties on behalf of fraud victims, and in one matter he helped recover a significant share of funds taken through fabricated invoices in a multimillion-dollar scheme. He also handles coverage and priority disputes for title insurers, solicitor negligence claims in mortgage transactions, and enforcement work for commercial lenders. Before law school he worked in accounting and compliance at a capital markets firm and later at the Ontario Securities Commission. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2018 and holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa and a B.A. from Western University.
