Administrative & Regulatory LawJoe Burke is a partner in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office, practicing primarily in insurance and general litigation. A native of St. Peter's, Cape Breton, he joined the firm in 2006 after several years in private practice, as in-house counsel for a major insurer, and as an aide to a federal government minister. Over a more than 20-year career, Joe has advised major insurers, utilities, municipalities, and other commercial and institutional clients on property and casualty claims, coverage issues, and insurance industry matters, appearing before all levels of court and negotiating numerous settlements. He earned his BA with First Class Honours from Mount Allison University in 1997 and his MPA and LLB from Dalhousie University in 2001, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2002. Joe has served as national Vice-President of Development & Peace, the Canadian arm of Caritas Internationalis, and sits on several community boards in Halifax.
