About Catherine

Catherine Lahey maintains an extensive litigation practice in Stewart McKelvey's Saint John office, focusing on commercial litigation, employment law, and Indigenous relations, and appears regularly as trial and appellate counsel before New Brunswick courts. Her commercial litigation work includes contractual disputes, product liability claims, oppression remedy disputes, and estate and insolvency litigation. In employment matters, she represents employers in wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights complaints, and occupational health and safety prosecutions. Her Indigenous relations practice includes acting for industry clients in Aboriginal title litigation and advising on consultation and accommodation requirements. She earned her LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1991 and a B.A. (honours) from the University of New Brunswick in 1988. She was called to the New Brunswick bar in 1992, was appointed King's Counsel in 2013, and served as Regional Managing Partner for New Brunswick from 2008 to 2016.
