About Jonathan

Jonathan N. Garbutt is a Barrister and Solicitor licensed in Alberta and Ontario. Since graduating from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law in 2005, he has practised Canadian income tax law, including general tax planning, global corporate tax minimization, tax advice for mergers and acquisitions, international private investment tax, tax controversy and litigation, international transfer pricing, and Canadian trusts and estates law. He began his career in international private banking at a large global law firm, advising high-net-worth clients on the Canadian tax system, non-resident trusts, and tax-efficient immigration and emigration. He has appeared on the Business News Network (BNN) and the CBC, and worked as an economist in Ottawa and Tokyo before attending law school. He is Treasurer of the not-for-profit Canadian Diplomatic Family Network and was recognized as volunteer of the year by the Alberta Figure Skating Association.
