About John

John Valley chairs Osler's Corporate Governance practice and is a member of the firm's cross-disciplinary Risk Management and Crisis Response practice. His work centers on advising clients on corporate governance and securities law matters in both public and private company contexts, including shareholder activism, stakeholder disputes, crisis response strategies, and public disclosure. John Valley also advises on joint venture, partnership, and shareholder agreements, including in the infrastructure sector and with respect to First Nations partnerships. He pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge, where his research examined the corporate governance of mixed ownership enterprises involving government blockholders, and he studied abroad at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
