About John
John H. McDonald has been in practice since 1978 and is one of the founding partners of the firm, now McDonald, Duncan, Doré LLP, where he serves as managing partner. He practices primarily in business law and estate planning, with broad experience in incorporations, partnerships, shareholder agreements, franchising, purchase and sale of businesses, commercial financing, corporate reorganizations, commercial leasing, and commercial real estate. He also has extensive experience in estate planning for business and high-net-worth clients, including wills, powers of attorney, multiple wills, trusts, and beneficiary designations. He earned his BA from the University of Western Ontario in 1972 and his LLB from the University of Windsor in 1976, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1978. He has chaired the United Way Campaign, served as President of the United Way of Cornwall and Area and of the SD&G Bar Association, chaired Cornwall's Heart of the City and the Downtown Business Improvement Area board, and sits on the board of the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences Foundation.
