About John
John Chak is the founder of Chak Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Criminology at Simon Fraser University and later studied law at the University of Saskatchewan, where he won the top first-year mooter award and co-published a paper on the Criminal Reports with Professor Glen Luther, KC. He was active in the university's clinical law program (CLASSIC), serving as a student clinician helping disadvantaged communities. After graduating in 2010, John returned to British Columbia and articled with a well-known expert in criminal traffic matters before founding Chak Law to serve the Chinese community in Richmond. He was called to the British Columbia bar in 2011 and has handled a number of high-profile cases, including a notorious 2011 street racing case and the largest single-detached residential transaction in BC history. He supports UBC's Law Students' Legal Advice Program and its Chak Law Chinatown Clinic.
