About Joel

Joel Berkovitz articled with Shibley Righton LLP and was called to the bar in 2014, and is now a partner in the firm's Business Law and Condominium Law groups. His corporate work spans a wide range of sectors, from manufacturing and retail to banking, entertainment, and mining, covering contracting, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, lending, and intellectual property. As a condominium lawyer, he drafts and negotiates contracts for condominium corporations and advises boards on governance, borrowing, and compliance, drawing on his own experience as a former condominium director. He sits on the CCI Toronto Education Committee, which helped develop mandatory training for condominium directors in Ontario. He earned his J.D. from the University of Windsor in 2013, receiving the Harold G. Fox Bursary, and a B.A. from McGill University in 2007.
