About Jillian
Jillian Van Allen is a partner at Beard Winter LLP, called to the Ontario bar in 2004. Her practice concentrates on insurance defence litigation, with particular focus on defending lawyers and on loss prevention work aimed at reducing claims against them. That solicitors' negligence practice grew out of years spent acting for insurers on accident benefits, tort, and general liability claims, which she continues to handle today. Jillian has appeared as motion, trial, and appellate counsel at every level of court in Ontario. She holds an Honours BA in political science from the University of Western Ontario, an LLB from the University of New Brunswick, and an LLM in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School. She co-chairs her firm's Articling Committee and belongs to the Advocates' Society and Canadian Defence Lawyers.
