About Jennifer

Jennifer Birrell is a partner at Emond Harnden with over twenty years of experience advising private and public sector employers on employment and labour law issues, including contracts, downsizing, policy development, human rights, workplace investigations, employment standards, discipline, labour arbitration, and collective agreement administration. She maintains an active education law practice, representing school boards in labour, employment, and education matters. Born and raised in Ottawa, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa and was called to the bar in 1995. She is a past president of the County of Carleton Law Association and served on its board for nearly a decade. She is also a member of the Advocates' Society, the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education, and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, and previously chaired the Canadian Toy Testing Council.
