About Vanessa

Vanessa Carew earned her Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor at the University of Ottawa. Before joining her father, senior counsel Robert B. Carew, in practice, she completed her articling clerkship with a prominent international law firm in Ottawa. As a law student, she was a leader in the criminal division of the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, representing individuals charged with criminal and provincial offences and conducting trials, and received the Clarey B. Sproule Award for her contributions to the clinic. Vanessa practices exclusively in criminal law, with experience at every level of court, defending clients under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and the Youth Criminal Justice Act. She is fluently bilingual in French and English and practices in both official languages.
