About Jay

Jay Michi has been a partner at Jensen Law since 2012 and focuses on defending clients facing complex criminal matters, including sexual assault and homicide, after earlier practising in administrative, employment, and personal injury law. He has conducted trials and appeared as lead counsel at every level of court in British Columbia, including the Court of Appeal, and has appeared in the Court of Queen's Bench in Alberta and Saskatchewan on Controlled Drugs and Substances Act cases. Jay has served on the Board of Directors of the BC Association of Legal Aid Lawyers since 2019, including as chair of its Finance Committee and co-chair of its board. In November 2023 he was elected Bencher for Kamloops District at the Law Society of British Columbia and was re-elected by acclamation in 2025, and he serves on the LSBC's Credentials Committee and Truth & Reconciliation Advisory Committee. He is a frequent guest lecturer at TRU's Faculty of Law.
