About Jason Beeho

Jason Beeho is the managing partner of Duntrune LLP in Toronto and practises workplace law for people on both sides of the employment relationship. On the employer side, Jason acts for companies in a wide range of industries, drafting contracts and workplace policies with their HR teams and handling the labour and employment pieces of corporate reorganizations and business sales alongside in-house counsel. That's only half of it, though. Executives, professionals and other senior people also turn to Jason for help with their own employment problems, something plenty of employment lawyers who stick to employer work don't offer.

Called to the Ontario bar in 2001 after earning an LL.B. at the University of Toronto, Jason has spent more than two decades as an employment lawyer in Toronto. More than ten of those years were at a full-service firm, where the work grew into sub-specialties in occupational health and safety and workers' compensation. Blake, Cassels & Graydon named Jason one of its new Toronto partners in February 2008. By 2015 Jason was practising at Rubin Thomlinson, and in April 2016 Jason joined Levitt & Grosman as a partner. Jason has also served as managing partner of a well-known Canadian employment law firm.

Before law, Jason worked in construction and the building trades, which is part of why Jason is just as at ease talking with a CEO as with a crew on a job site. Jason's stated preference is to settle disputes between organizations and their workers through negotiation, with litigation kept as a last resort, and a lot of the work is about helping clients lower risk before trouble starts. When a case does go to a hearing, Jason has appeared in Ontario's Superior Court and Court of Appeal and before several workplace tribunals.

Jason has written many published articles, leads seminars on workplace law and is a frequent source for reporters. Canadian Lawyer quoted Jason in 2015 on Ontario's review of the Employment Standards Act and the Labour Relations Act, and in 2016 Jason sat on the editorial advisory board of the HRPA's HR Professional magazine. Away from the office, Jason is a parent of two young sons and spends spare hours driving, and working on, a vintage Pontiac.

Courts and tribunals

Jason has represented clients at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal, and before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
