About Jason Alsbergas

Jason Alsbergas defends people facing serious criminal charges, working as an associate lawyer at Collett Read LLP. Jason's cases are heard in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, and that first court has appointed Jason as amicus curiae on grave matters, aggravated assault among them.

Jason has been a member of the Ontario bar since 2019. The route there ran through Osgoode Hall Law School's Criminal Intensive Program, with a year in the Innocence Project alongside Alan Young, where the work centred on people who'd been wrongfully convicted. Jason also did research for Justice James Stribopoulos and helped on a number of published articles, essays and textbooks. A final student summer at a Toronto firm turned into articles there after graduation in 2018, and today Jason brings enthusiasm for defence work to the Collett Read team.

Giving back to the profession matters to Jason, and much of it happens around mooting. Jason regularly sits as a judge in the Jessup moot's Canadian national rounds, was one of the alumni coaches behind the Osgoode team that won that competition's national championship in Ottawa in February 2025, and returns to Osgoode as a guest lecturer in first year Criminal Law.
