About James

James Studer grew up in British Columbia before moving to Ontario to study law at Queen's University. He articled with a litigation-focused firm in Waterloo, then relocated to Toronto to build a family law practice concentrated on contested matters. His litigation background lets him weigh the financial and emotional costs of court proceedings for clients, and he pursues litigation only when it is necessary to protect their interests, favouring alternatives where appropriate. He has represented clients in civil, criminal, and immigration issues that arose alongside the breakdown of a marriage or common-law relationship. His practice covers property division, spousal and child support, equalization, and collaborative resolution, and he has practised since 2010.
