About James

James (Jim) R. Crate practises civil litigation, including personal injury and employment law matters, criminal defence, estate planning and administration (including wills and powers of attorney), and real estate transactions. Jim has recently begun accepting Legal Aid certificates for criminal matters. Jim graduated from the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Law, completed the Ontario Bar Admission Course, and articled with Patrick J. Fahey Law Office and Monteith Baker Johnston & Doodnauth PC. Before practising law, Jim served with the Ontario Provincial Police from 1991 to 2007, gaining experience in criminal law, major case management and human resource development, and taught police-related courses at the in-service and college level. Jim manages the firm's annual Will and Powers of Attorney campaign, which has raised more than $50,000 for local charities in Georgina, and previously served on the board of Jericho Youth Services.
