About James

James P. Downie is an associate in Cox & Palmer's Halifax office and was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2023. He holds a Biology degree from Saint Mary's University and completed his JD, along with a Certificate of Specialization in Law & Technology, at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University. James received the 2022 Gowling WLG Law & Technology Prize for the highest mark in Law & Technology and the Schulich Scholarship for academic excellence and community involvement. In 2024 he was appointed a Professional in Residence at the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre, and he has served as a guest lecturer for the MBA program at Saint Mary's University.
