About James
James Satin is co-managing partner at Devry Smith Frank LLP and leads the firm's creditors' rights group, which handles debt recovery along with bankruptcy and insolvency matters. He acts for Canadian chartered banks and other financial institutions on recovery matters, working with trustees, receivers, and property managers to realize secured assets efficiently. He also maintains a commercial litigation practice covering contract disputes, real estate litigation, product liability, employment and wrongful dismissal claims, estate litigation, and fraud actions, with experience in injunctions, receiverships, and summary judgment motions. He frequently appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and has argued before the Court of Appeal and Divisional Court. James graduated from McGill University with a B.A. in psychology in 1996 and earned his LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario in 1999, along with a mediation certificate from Western's Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre. He was called to the bar in 2001.
