About Jagjit
Jagjit (Jag) Bhathal is a founding partner of Hummingbird Lawyers LLP and lead mediator of the Hummingbird Family Mediation Centre. He earned an undergraduate degree summa cum laude from McMaster University and a law degree from the University of Toronto, and he has practiced almost exclusively in family law since his call to the bar in 1998. Jag has appeared at every level of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and regularly handles divorce, equalization of net family property, spousal and child support, and parenting arrangements. His practice also covers separation agreements, marriage contracts, and cohabitation agreements. A background in finance and economics helps him navigate financial statements and business valuations in family law matters. He trained in collaborative family law and holds a mediation certificate from Riverdale Mediation, and he favours practical resolutions over drawn-out litigation.
