About Ian

Ian Michalek is an associate in Daoust Vukovich's litigation group, where he handles commercial litigation matters such as commercial leasing, contract, and construction disputes. He takes a practical, business-minded approach to advocacy and dispute resolution. Ian joined the firm as an articling student in 2024 after completing his JD/MBA at the University of Toronto, studying at both the Faculty of Law and the Rotman School of Management, and he was called to the Ontario bar in 2025. During his studies he won first place in the Rotman Negotiation Challenge and received the Honourable John Dawson Ground Prize in Leadership and Ethics, awarded to the top JD/MBA student in Rotman's business ethics course. Before law school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts with honours from Queen's University in history and political studies. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
