About Ian

Ian Johncox handles employment law, occupier liability defence, franchise litigation and other contract disputes, acting for both employers and employees. On the employer side he drafts contracts and policies, advises on discipline and severance, and defends wrongful dismissal claims, while he also helps employees negotiate contracts and fair severance. His litigation work includes commercial landlord and tenant disputes, real estate matters and defending slip-and-fall claims. A trained mediator, he conducts mediations through EPOCH Mediation and previously wrote newspaper columns on business and legal topics for local Durham Region publications. He served as President of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce and has held roles with several regional legal and business associations. Johncox earned his science and law degrees from the University of Western Ontario and was called to the Ontario bar in 1996, practising in Durham Region ever since.
