About Heather

Heather Maxted is an associate in the Employment and Labour group at Osler's Calgary office, working with clients nationwide. Her practice includes drafting employment and contractor agreements, executive compensation arrangements and workplace policies, and she supports employers through terminations and separation packages when needed. Maxted also advises unions and employers on labour issues affecting both provincially and federally regulated workplaces. As a litigator, she has defended employers in wrongful dismissal claims and other employment disputes, including injunctions, grievance arbitrations and human rights complaints, appearing before the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, and courts up to the Court of King's Bench and the Court of Appeal in Alberta. Her litigation background also extends to commercial disputes and arbitration in sectors such as energy, construction and personal injury. Before joining Osler, Maxted trained and practised at a well-known Calgary firm. She holds a Doctor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce with honours, both from the University of Manitoba.
