Haya Sakakini practices exclusively in family law at the firm, helping clients navigate complex issues with practical advice and strong advocacy. Before law school she worked in international and human rights law, and she discovered her interest in family law during a clinical placement at a clinic serving low-income women. As a student she won the Allan Falconer Memorial Student Essay Prize, and her paper on psychological abuse claims in family courts was published in the Canadian Journal of Family Law. Since being called to the bar, she has represented clients at every stage of separation, conducted a trial, prepared materials for cases before several courts including the Court of Appeal, and assisted clients through mediation and arbitration.
