About Graham Reeder

Graham Reeder helps municipalities, Indigenous communities and businesses through the regulatory side of big projects, from environmental assessments to questions of Crown consultation and accommodation. As an associate in the Environmental Law Group at Gowling WLG in Toronto, Graham concentrates on energy, land use, environmental and Indigenous law, and much of that work involves major infrastructure and resource development proposals before federal and provincial regulators and tribunals.

Before law school, Graham worked with communities on climate adaptation. After a BA in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic, Graham spent a year as a Watson Fellow with communities facing climate change impacts in Norway, Bangladesh, Malaysia and the Maldives. A Master of Environmental Studies followed in York University's accredited planning program, along with published research on how cities in Southeast Asia can build climate resilience. For four years Graham also advised the negotiating teams of developing countries at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. By late 2023, Graham had attended four COP meetings.

At Osgoode Hall Law School, Graham picked up awards for academic achievement and leadership and took the Environmental Justice and Sustainability Clinic, including a placement with an international NGO. Student life kept Graham busy too, as co-president of Osgoode OUTLaws, a senior editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and vice-chair of the Student Caucus. Graham summered and articled at Gowling WLG, then stayed on as an associate after being called to the Ontario bar in 2021.

Graham also teaches, serving as a clinic and experiential instructor and mooting advisor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. On each file, Graham works hand in hand with clients, technical experts and multidisciplinary legal teams, shaping the advice to the matter's legal, regulatory and community setting. During law school, Graham's free time went to cycling, cooking and gardening.
