Insurance LawGeoffrey Machum handles high-stakes litigation for national and multinational commercial insurers, building contractors and suppliers, corporate directors and officers, pharmaceutical companies, and chartered banks. His work has included defending a major Canadian bank against multimillion-dollar breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, and representing a former mining company CEO in a directors and officers liability case involving more than $100 million. He also represented an insurer in a constitutional challenge to Nova Scotia's auto insurance cap legislation. Machum has chaired the firm's Partnership Board and previously taught commercial insurance law at Dalhousie's Schulich School of Law. He serves on several corporate boards, including WildBrain and Organigram Holdings. He earned his LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 1984 and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Dalhousie University in 1981, and was named King's Counsel in 2003.
