About Francois
Francois Larose is a principal in Smart & Biggar LLP's Montreal office, practising across the full trademark lifecycle alongside copyright, IP-related contracts, and regulatory compliance. He has a particular specialty in matters engaging Quebec's Charter of the French Language, and he advocates before courts and administrative tribunals in intellectual property disputes for clients ranging from local ventures to global enterprises. Francois has held leadership roles in the IP community, including chairing committees of the International Trademark Association, such as its North America Global Advisory Council, and of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada; he currently sits on INTA's Trademark Legislation and Regulation Committee. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 2002 and became a registered trademark agent in 2006, holding an LLM from McGill University, an LLL from the University of Ottawa, and a BAA from the Universite du Quebec en Outaouais. Francois works in both English and French.
