About Ernie
Ernie Belyea is Of Counsel at Caravel Law and a senior corporate-commercial lawyer with more than 30 years of legal experience alongside a decade in business roles. His practice covers administrative law, corporate governance, contract law, mergers and acquisitions, public-private partnerships, private equity and venture capital, and regulatory and financing matters. He previously worked as a partner at Bennett Jones, Torys, and Donahue Ernst & Young, and held a role at the Ontario Power Authority. Ernie has led corporate-commercial legal work in the energy sector, including more than $1 billion in renewable energy projects, and helped establish 50 partnerships between First Nations communities and renewable energy developers in Ontario. He holds a J.D. from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo.
