Doug Wallace is the managing partner of Wallace Smith LLP and is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a specialist in Civil Litigation. Wallace has been included in Best Lawyers in Canada every year since 2018 and was selected by peers as Lawyer of the Year in 2022. Wallace moved to London, Ontario in 1986 to attend the University of Western Ontario, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History before attending law school and graduating in 1994. Wallace then practised civil litigation at a large firm, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, before founding Wallace Smith LLP in 2008 as a civil litigation boutique focused on personal injury, professional liability, and insurance law. Wallace has appeared as trial and appellate counsel before the Ontario Superior Court, Divisional Court, Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, including notable matters such as the Algo Mall collapse in Elliot Lake, the Sunrise Propane explosion in Toronto, the Nest building collapse in London, and the deaths of eleven migrant workers outside Stratford. Wallace has more recently opened a mediation practice and writes and presents on legal education topics.
