About Wallace Smith LLP

Wallace Smith LLP is a small civil litigation firm based in downtown London, Ontario. Doug Wallace and Brian Smith founded the firm in 2008, aiming to build a more specialized, client-focused practice. Brian Smith had spent years at a large Toronto firm beforehand and wanted something different from that big-firm practice. The firm represents both individuals and institutions in personal injury, insurance, and employment law matters, adding employment law to its practice later as client needs in the area grew. Wallace Smith takes cases across Southwestern Ontario and appears before the Ontario Superior Court, the Divisional Court, and the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Doug Wallace, the firm's managing partner, is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a specialist in Civil Litigation and has been included in Best Lawyers in Canada every year since 2018, chosen by peers as Lawyer of the Year in 2022. Doug Wallace and Brian Smith both completed Harvard University's Negotiation Mastery course, Brian in the fall of 2024, and began offering mediation services for civil disputes alongside their litigation work. The firm has since grown to five lawyers, who between them handle personal injury claims, insurance defence and coverage opinions, and employment disputes for employees, and, on the insurance side, insurers.
