About Dennis
Dennis Ong represents sophisticated corporate policyholders in complex disputes against insurance companies, drawing on nearly a decade as senior litigation counsel for one of Canada's largest property and casualty insurers. That background gives him insight into commercial general liability, umbrella, and excess coverage disputes, plus claims involving large property losses, cyber and data breach, and long-tail environmental exposures. He has appeared as lead counsel in trials and appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Divisional Court, and the Superior Court of Justice. He writes for the Annual Review of Civil Litigation and has chaired the Ontario Bar Association's Insurance Section. In 2021 he was appointed a Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court for the Central East Region. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 after earning his J.D./LL.B. jointly from the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy.
