Delia Opekokew is a sole practitioner who works with J. de Whytell Law as a mentor and co-counsel. She earned her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1977 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1979 and the Saskatchewan bar in 1983, becoming the first Indigenous woman lawyer in each province. Her practice has centred on Indigenous rights, treaty law and First Nations legal matters, including acting as counsel for the family of Dudley George in the Ipperwash Provincial Park matter, which led to reforms in police and government relations with Aboriginal communities. She holds an honorary LL.D.
