David Phillip Jones

About David

David Phillip Jones, K.C., draws his expertise from both the practice of law and 16 years as a full-time law professor at McGill and the University of Alberta, teaching administrative law, constitutional law, property, taxation, and government control of business. He grew up in Calgary, studied economics and political science at McGill University, and studied law as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford. In 1988 he went into private practice in Edmonton with his wife, Anne, founding de Villars Jones. He is co-author of Jones and de Villars' Principles of Administrative Law, now in its eighth edition, and was co-editor of the Administrative Law Reports. His practice covers administrative law, commercial and labour arbitration, and point-of-law litigation, and he serves as Conflict of Interest Commissioner for Yukon and Integrity Commissioner for the Northwest Territories.
