About David
David Austin practises in the areas of energy, particularly electricity, and the structuring of public-private partnership infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and water and wastewater plants. He has appeared before regulatory bodies on energy matters and was legal advisor to the developer of British Columbia's first public-private partnership. His experience covers energy project development, including private transmission lines, corporate structures, project finance, and formation of government policy, and he advised on the development of B.C.'s first independent power project and wind farm. He also served as an expert legal witness in a NAFTA dispute. Earlier in his career, David practised in London, England, advising on international capital markets and banking transactions, including project finance and securitizations. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia (since 1979), the British Columbia Task Force on Electricity Market Reform, and the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia, and has received the Clean Energy Association of B.C. Life Time Achievement Award.
