Insurance LawDanièle Dion joined Brisset Bishop as a partner in 1996 after working for 11 years with the Admiralty Section of the Canadian Department of Justice. Dion practices in all areas of maritime and transportation law, including litigation, arbitration and mediation, and advises on commercial and regulatory matters. Dion routinely advises on contracts of affreightment, coasting trade, vessel acquisitions and registration, port state control interventions, and vessel arrest and security, and has acted as counsel in matters involving oil pollution, personal injury, ship groundings and hull and machinery claims. Dion has appeared before a variety of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Dion was called to the Quebec Bar in 1985 and holds a B.A. in Social Communications, an LL.L. and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa, and an LL.M. from Dalhousie University. Dion is a director of the Canadian Maritime Law Association and a member of WISTA.
