About Dan

Dan Murphy is the managing partner of MD Law Group, having opened the Edmonton office in 2020 and a Calgary office in the summer of 2024. His practice focuses on employment law and civil litigation, with additional work in corporate, criminal and debt recovery matters. Before starting MD Law Group he was the youngest named partner at his previous firm, Jewer Murphy & Griffin. He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Alberta, and spent four years in Newfoundland and Labrador as the sole prosecutor on the Burin Peninsula before moving into criminal defence work in Toronto and southwestern Ontario. He earned his Juris Doctor from Osgoode University in 2010, a master's degree in International Relations from the University of Western Ontario in 2008, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science, also from Western, in 2004.
