About Clayton
Clayton Leonard is Senior Counsel at JFK Law's Victoria office, advising Indigenous communities on resource projects, water rights, and government policy. A significant part of his practice involves Treaty and Aboriginal water rights, water management and allocation, and issues facing First Nations and other stakeholders. He also has extensive experience with First Nation Treaty and Aboriginal rights matters, Métis rights, governance issues, and negotiating impact benefit agreements with industry. Clayton was named one of Canada's Leading Lawyers in Aboriginal Law by the Canadian Lexpert Legal Directory and received the Harris Gillespie Field, Q.C. Prize in Environmental Law in 2002. He holds an LL.B. and an Honours B.A. in Native Studies, both from the University of Alberta, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2004 and the British Columbia Bar in 2017.
