About Chrystie

Chrystie Stewart has a multi-disciplinary practice covering real estate, wills and estates, and civil litigation, and has worked extensively with Indigenous people and governments across British Columbia, as well as in Alberta and the Yukon, both before and after becoming a lawyer. She describes herself as a community lawyer, a member of the client's team rather than its director, and much of her practice has evolved into mediation as files increasingly resolve through negotiated settlements; she founded the Indigenous Mediation and Negotiation Centre as a result. Chrystie is a sessional instructor at TRU's Faculty of Law for Dispute Resolution II, the Indigenous law student liaison, and a coach for the Kawaskimhon National Moot, and she is the current president of Western Canada Theatre. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Thompson Rivers University (2014) and is pursuing a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution at Osgoode Hall Law School. She has appeared in reported cases including Brooks v. Canada (Indigenous Services) and Brady-Giles v. Kitselas First Nation.
