About Chris
Chris Barnett practises administrative and regulatory law, with a focus on municipal and planning advice, environmental approvals and expropriations. He advises clients in both the public and private sectors on coordinating the various approvals required for complex projects, including matters involving municipal governance, heritage, growth management, parkland dedication and aggregate resource policies. Chris also advises landowners and authorities on expropriations under federal and provincial statutes, and represents clients on development charges, cost-sharing matters and environmental assessment processes. He appears regularly before the Ontario Land Tribunal and municipal councils, and has provided annual case law updates to the Ontario Bar Association for more than 15 years. Chris teaches Planning Law at the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Urban and Regional Planning, and holds an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall, York University and a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto.
