Cassandra Spade is a human rights advocate from Mishkeegogamang First Nation with close ties to Couchiching First Nation. She graduated from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University in 2025, where she delivered the school's first valedictorian address in Anishinaabemowin, and that year received the Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella Prize, awarded to the law student judged most likely to advance equity and social justice in Canada. She brings to her practice experience working with the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF) on cases advancing gender equality. Cass also founded Gaa-minwaajindizowaaj (GAAM) in 2020, an organization that provides Anishinaabe language and cultural programming. She practises in Indigenous law, family law, and civil litigation.
