About Bryinne McCoy

Bryinne McCoy practises corporate commercial law, with contracts and gaming law at the centre of the work. A partner with Gowling WLG in Ottawa and a member of its Business Law Group, Bryinne drafts and negotiates the commercial agreements businesses depend on, and advises clients on gaming law, including those entering Ontario's iGaming market.

Bryinne comes from Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, and spent four years studying political science at Memorial University before going on to law school at the University of New Brunswick. Summer jobs at McInnes Cooper in St. John's followed in both first and second year. The Newfoundland and Labrador call came in 2017 and Ontario's a year later, and Bryinne holds a licence to practise in both provinces today. Gowling WLG brought Bryinne into its partnership as of January 1, 2024.

Some of Bryinne's experience was gained in-house. On secondment, Bryinne worked within the legal departments of a large telecom company and of a large power generation company. Back at the firm, Bryinne is closely involved in its mentoring and student recruitment work.

Bryinne also writes about Ontario's gaming rules, co-authoring pieces with Cam Cameron on topics such as the province's restrictions on using athletes and celebrities in iGaming ads and how non-gaming-related suppliers register.
